In September 2007, SAP launched Business ByDesign™, an on-demand business software solution specifically addressing a new market of prospective, fast-growing midsize customers.

SAP Business ByDesign delivers an on-demand software solution with built-in service and support. Business ByDesign is designed around four key principles:

  • Completeness
  • Ease of use
  • Adaptability
  • Significantly cutting total cost of ownership (TCO)

A recent article published in New Zealand Herald comments: "The on-demand model involves accessing and using software over the internet through a web browser rather than the traditional method of loading it onto, and running it through, your desktop or laptop.

For businesses the benefits of on-demand software include price, simplicity and convenience. A software solution is typically "hired" for a monthly fee.The web-based software also means users have the convenience of being able to access it from any internet-enabled computer." 

The product is currently available in United States, Germany, United Kingdom, France and China.
