Confusion about SOA and lack of skills hinder local uptake

October 18 2007 | Thinking Out Loud

A recent article in Computerworld in New Zealand reported that in a recent survey, 13% of respondents wanted to implement SOA in their organisations, but limitations on resources and lack of knowledge were holding them back.

What is SOA? SOA is an acronym for Service-oriented Architecture.

The term SOA loosely refers to an architecture that relies on service-orientation as its fundamental design principle.  This concept can be applied to business, software and other types of producer/consumer systems.

With SAP, SOA encompasses People, Process and Data and is supported by a suite of products including DUET, SAP xApps, Analytics, BI Accelerator and AutoID Infrastructure.
