Oxygen to implement SAP asset management system for Amcor
Part of a global enterprise that has over 200 manufacturing sites across 33 countries, Amcor Australasia, has nine plants throughout Australia and provides a wide range of packaging solutions including beverage cans, cardboard cartons and closure systems to the food, beverage and industrial sectors.
Stuart Dickinson, Oxygen’s GM Solution Delivery Australia says, the asset management implementation is underway and is expected to be complete by March 2009.
“Amcor runs an asset-intensive business and is looking to improve productivity and efficiency while increasing its levels of customer service. SAP’s asset management solution will provide the company with more effective management of all its plant and facilities.”
He says the new solution aims to allow Amcor to implement more consistent business processes across purchasing and maintenance, and will allow the company to keep better track of its assets thanks to simplified reporting functionality and better asset register accuracy and consistency.”
Other projects underway and due for delivery in the fourth quarter of this year include a SAP Supplier Management System for Australian Paper and a major ERP 6.0 upgrade for Bridgestone.
Dickinson says Oxygen’s business intelligence project currently underway at Powerlink is tracking to plan and due for completion in September.
“Powerlink is a government-owned corporation that owns and operates Queensland’s high-voltage electricity transmission network, which benchmarks in the top quartile internationally in terms of both cost efficiency and reliability. We are nearing completion of the SAP BI 7 system across Powerlink’s project services team, HR and project management departments.”
Powerlink’s $3billion network extends 1,700km from north of Cairns to the New South Wales border – approximately half of Australia’s eastern seaboard.
Finally, Dickinson reports that Oxygen’s New Zealand arm has secured a scoping project for an ERP upgrade project at ONTRACK, the New Zealand Railway’s Corporation. “Based on this piece of work, a detailed scope and plan may be agreed and upgrade work commenced in the future,” Dickinson says.
