Building sustainable organisations with Oxygen
Oxygen’s General Manager – Consulting, Stuart Dickinson, says when used in a business context the key definition of the word sustainable is ‘enduring’. “A sustainable organisation is one that aims to be around for the long term. In addition to longevity, its goal is to minimise its impact on the environment, its customers and the people that work and partner with the organisation.”
He says Oxygen has developed an iterative three step process that enables organisations to assess, enhance and monitor business and infrastructure process across key performance, compliance and sustainability metrics.“By taking an ongoing improvement focus we help organisations to deliver on their sustainability objectives and drive business performance.”
Dickinson believes that to be considered truly sustainable an organisation needs to be mindful of multiple business dimensions, including customer lifecycle management, financial performance, employee health and safety, risk and compliance and emissions and carbon management.“The Oxygen ‘Sustainable Organisations’ model is built on this premise. It takes a holistic rather than ad-hoc approach across each of the key business dimensions and works towards driving medium and longer term sustainability-based improvements.”
During the ‘assess’ phase Oxygen works to establish organisational benchmarks across key process and infrastructure streams. The ‘enhance’ phase is designed to move key business process and infrastructure solutions areas towards best practice.
